Ever thought about building your own electric powered car that runs entirely on the power of the sun? It's the ultimate clean transportation solution and I've been curious about it myself so did a bit of digging around.
One company I found called SUNN EV offers a do it yourself kit with the total cost of components costing around $5K and has around a 30 mile range. Of course, it's no speed demon topping out at around 25mph. The car was designed by Art Haines with the help of high school students in Maine. Very cool!
This is one of the few solar electric power car kits I've been able to find.. check it out! Good luck with the business Art!

There aren't too many dealerships out there yet that specialize in electric powered cars but I'd expect the number to grow considerably over the next 2 years. I did a search and compiled a directory (I'm not making any claims that this is comprehensive or complete!) If you know of any others feel free to leave a comment.

EcoMotion is an electric powered car dealership and it just so happens to be right down the street from me in Portland Oregon! They sell quite a few of the Zap models and Zap says that Oregon is one of the top US electric car markets. Very cool

There are many advantages to an electric car – some obvious, some not so much.
Zero Emmissions
Fewer moving parts – less repair!
Quieter
Efficiency – nearly 90% energy conversion efficiency
Cheaper Fuel!
Environmentally Friendly
Some disadvantages….
Range – they can only get you so far on a charge
Speed – not for the needy of speed
Safety – wouldn't want to be hit with an SUV in one
Cost – some of the newer models coming to market are very pricey (see Phoenix Motorcars)
